HW Ayebare Tumwebaze, Registrar and Private Legal Secretary to the Chief Justice today presided over the swearing-in ceremony of the new Pharmacy Board.
The ceremony took place at the Ministry of Health headquarters.
HW Ayebare congratulated the outgoing Board and those re-appointed, encouraging them to deliver even better results this time around.
The Board is responsible for overseeing pharmacy education, registering professionals, and addressing misconduct within the industry.
The Registrar emphasized the importance of commitment and accountability to the new Board.
"The oath is a declaration to your God, pledging to uphold the responsibilities entrusted to you," HW Ayebare stated, warning that failure to adhere could result in prosecution.
He highlighted the need to regulate herbal products, verifying their authenticity, both in content and dosage.
The Registrar urged them to exercise the disciplinary function with care and incompliance with the law.
The Minister of State for Health in Charge of General Duties, Hon. Bangirana Anifa Kawooya, who was also the chief guest at the event, reminded the new Board members that saving lives is not just the responsibility of doctors and healthcare professionals but also pharmacists, as incorrect prescriptions can have severe consequences.
The sworn-in Board consists of; Dr. Henry Mwebesa, the new Board Chairperson, members; Ms. Nancy Awor, Ms. Loi Gwoyita, Dr. Nazuli Ketty, Dr. Mukembo Robert,Mr. Kalidi Rajab, Sr. Josephine Oyella, Dr. Nyatia Edward, and Dr. Tabaruka Rodney Tibaruha, the Registrar.
